| ____________________ABOUT SOULOGIK___________________
| |
| | | Soulogik is a transcontinental rapper/producer whose background hails from Mozambique, and who was blessed enough to travel to different parts of the world such as Zimbabwe, South Africa, The United Kingdom (London), and the United States (DMV) where he has been since 2003. As an artist, he wishes to share his world experiences which came to him courtesy of his father's civil duties for his country. He does so through songs which display poignant but insightful lyrics while trying to make a difference, in terms of re-establishing autonomy, in a world that seems to be going towards a state of apathy and ignorance. Consequently, he has chosen to take on a slightly rebellious but intellectual persona that is rarely seen in hip-hop today.
Although it was vital for him to uphold his father's political charisma, the hip-hop bug snuck into him during the early 90's while watching Yo! MTV Raps. It grew within him, and later inspired him to not only wear the iconic "Tim boots" and baggy jeans, but also to learn the reality behind the pictures painted by the likes of Nas, Ice Cube, Arrested Development, and others. That sparked his interest to later follow both his father's and his oldest brother's affection for reading history, psychology, and philosophy books while borrowing whatever he could from his brother's understanding of hip-hop and poetry at the time. That said, Soulogik is now an individual who is focused on thinking outside of the box with music and poetry as his main anchors.

| Now one might ask "what impact does all of this have on his music?" Well, since his art draws directly from his views and experiences, it gives him a lot of depth and flexibility in terms of subject matter. So although he may appreciate some of the finer things in life, he doesn't dwell on futile subject matters. More so, he feels compelled to speak for those who haven't been represented in today's musical scene such as the poor, the oppressed and estranged amongst many others who remind him of himself and the forgotten souls in the "3rd world" from which he came.
As far as available material, in late 2007 to 2008, Soulogik distributed several copies of his first mixtape "Urban Elements [click here to download]" and received some good feedback regarding it. Much to his surprise, people could actually relate or sympathize with the stories he covered on the record. The only problem then was the cheap audio equipment and lack of publicity that made him quit for a while. But remembering the reception of his miniscule release motivated him to try again with a new strategy that lead up to the conception of "Higher Unlearning [click here to listen]" his latest project which has been in the works ever since and is currently being re-produced professionally. This project, as of now tentatively titled, counts on the participation of several producers (Nel Sentimentum, Dario, 7 Kruzes, Elevation, etc.) to whom he reached out because their sounds complemented his new approach to music. Basically, Higher Unlearning boasts a more entertaining, yet serious tone than all of Soulogik's mixtapes up to date and focuses on delivering its thematic message.... It's almost that time people.... HIGHER UNLEARNING - AUGUST 30th!!
